Desmond (Hunslet)
This 0-4-0 loco is based on a Welsh slate quarry loco.
The loco was a regular steamer at Bentley during the mid-1990s however spent some years idle due to its owner's failing health. The loco subsequently changed hands and ran frequently during 2012-2014 but was withdrawn after a routine boiler inspection.
It returned to service in 2017 until being withdrawn again in 2023 to undergo a further renovation to improve it's operational ability, returning to service in 2024 sporting a new Black colourscheme.
This is often seen training new drivers in the world of steam operation or helping to haul larger trains (seen here working with Basil).
